ZeroMiss books directly in Juno EMR and OSCAR, sends booking links for Jane App, and turns bookings into staff requests for every other system. In Juno and OSCAR it reads real openings, finds or creates the patient, and books, moves or cancels the appointment after the patient confirms in a secure chat. It never reads charts. The table below shows exactly what it reads and writes in each system.
Three ways an AI receptionist can "book"
Almost every AI receptionist says it books appointments. In practice that means one of three very different things, and clinics are right to ask which one applies to their system:
- Direct booking: the AI writes the appointment into the EMR itself. Nobody re-types anything.
- Booking link: the AI finds a real open time and texts the patient the clinic's own booking link; the patient books it.
- Booking request: the AI collects what the patient needs and your staff complete the booking.
The ZeroMiss integration matrix
| System | How | Open times | Find / create patient | Book | Move | Cancel |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Juno EMR | EMR web services the clinic authorizes | Yes, live | Yes (name + date of birth) | Direct, after Confirm | Direct (new booked first, then old cancelled) | Direct |
| OSCAR EMR | OSCAR web services | Yes, live | Yes | Direct, after Confirm | Direct | Direct |
| Jane App | Public online booking + practitioners' calendar feeds | Yes, refreshed every 5 min and on demand | No (not needed) | Booking link; patient books in Jane | Jane sign-in link or staff callback | Jane sign-in link or staff callback |
| Google Calendar | Practitioner's private calendar feed (read only) | Busy times only | No | Clinic's booking link, or request | Request | Request |
| Any other system (e.g. Accuro, TELUS PS Suite, Cliniko, Mindbody) | Requests mode | From the clinic's hours and rules | No | Request for staff | Request for staff | Request for staff |
What ZeroMiss never touches in any EMR: charts, encounter notes, lab and imaging results, prescriptions, billing. It uses one dedicated, least-privilege EMR account per clinic, which the clinic can revoke at any time.
How direct booking works in Juno and OSCAR
- The caller asks for an appointment. On the phone, the assistant never asks for a date of birth or health card number.
- Real openings. It reads each provider's hours minus the appointments already booked, and offers two or three times.
- A secure link. The patient gets a one-time secure link by text and enters their name and date of birth in fields the AI model never sees.
- Matched, then confirmed. The server matches the patient in the EMR (or creates a new patient record), shows the booking, and writes it only when the patient taps Confirm on a time that was offered.
A stranger and a wrong date of birth get exactly the same answer, so nobody can probe whether someone is a patient. Before any move, ZeroMiss checks the new time is still free; in Juno it books the new time first and then cancels the old one, so a patient is never left without an appointment if something fails halfway.
What your EMR host has to switch on
Juno and OSCAR expose web services, but each clinic's host decides whether they're enabled. Juno versions differ: some expose OSCAR's REST or SOAP services, newer ones a newer Juno API, so we confirm which one your instance runs during setup. Some hosts also only accept connections from approved addresses; ZeroMiss sends EMR traffic from a fixed outgoing IP address you can give them. Until the connection is approved, ZeroMiss runs in requests mode, so you don't have to wait to go live.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does ZeroMiss integrate with Accuro or TELUS PS Suite?
Not directly today. Clinics on those systems use requests mode: the assistant answers, handles questions and turns every booking, move or cancellation into a dashboard request for staff. Tell us your EMR; we add direct connections based on clinic demand.
Can ZeroMiss read patient charts?
No. It uses only the schedule and patient lookup. It never reads charts, notes, results, prescriptions or billing.
Can it go live before my EMR is connected?
Yes. Requests mode needs no EMR access. Switch to direct booking once your host approves the connection.
What should I ask other vendors?
For your exact EMR: does the AI read live availability, find the right patient, and create, move and cancel appointments itself, or does it send a link or a request? Ask to see it working on a test system.
Bottom Line
"Integrates with your EMR" can mean anything from writing the appointment to emailing staff. ZeroMiss writes directly in Juno and OSCAR after the patient confirms, uses booking links where there's no booking API, and says plainly when a system runs in requests mode.
